Antique French knife with obscured markings “Fonten.. Nog.. Co…” on a 5.25” pitted hand forged carbon steel blade with a brass bolster and hardwood handle held with two steel pins and one birdseye pin and brass disc rivet.

Agonizing trying to figure our the markings as they blend into pits that suggest letters if stared at. I’m guessing the second middle mark is for the town of Nogent…

This knife looks like late 19th early 20th C production but could also be older than this as well. A very striking old knife here.
